Taber Special Needs Society has been in existence since 1987. The Society provides support to adults with developmental disabilities. The Society advocates and supports an inclusive environment both for the individuals and the staff that support them. There will be on the job training and job shadowing.

Rotation details: The second of 2 Permanent Fulltime positions averaging at 36 hours per week. It includes evenings and weekends in a 6-week rotation. The shifts are typically 3/11 p.m. or 6/10 p.m. on some of the Saturdays.

Overview: We are looking for a compassionate and reliable person to work alongside another staff member to provide 1:1 support for two gentlemen in their home. In this position you will be actively providing one-to-one support, including with daily routines, personal care, community activities such as swimming, bowling, movies, walks, going to parks, having picnics, going to the library etc. Facilitating visits and social events with their peers, and family members will enhance their relationships and community participation.

Responsibilities: Involving Individuals in their daily living and social skills, facilitating opportunities in the home and community, providing behavioral supports and helping the individuals develop and build skills to maintain positive behavior through the use of Wellness Plans and positive support strategies. Personal Care is required and will increase as needs change. Other responsibilities include meal planning, cooking and general housekeeping, enhancing independence in their interests, and abilities, achievement of personal goals and ensuring health needs are met. Communication will be appropriate in meeting the challenges of a dementia diagnosis.

Qualifications: - Working within a team and independently, good written and verbal communication skills will be of upmost importance. As well; being creative, reliable and engaged. Able to problem solve and be attentive to detail. - Ability to walk and provide physical assistance so that Individuals can enjoy the outdoors and be able to go up and down stairs as necessary for household maintenance, laundry etc. - Training and/or experience with positive approaches, Wellness Plans or other related experience/training is an asset. - 18 years of age or older - A valid class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with proof of $2 million liability insurance - A clean criminal record check with the vulnerable persons sector check - High School Diploma or equivalent - Proficient in verbal and written English - Basic understanding and use of computer skills an asset

Experience in the disability sector or health sector is an asset, but not necessary as we provide all training.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$22.26 per hour
