We are currently looking to hire a Manufacturing Technologist or Engineer in shop assembly methods to support our growth in Canada. Actalent Montreal Services is a strategic partner to a major client in the gas turbine & power generation industries and has additional clients in other industries in Montreal and in Europe.

Actalent also supplies manufacturing support for clients connected to a variety of industries including gas turbine engine, automotive and aviation products. They would be supporting projects with these, and other future clients as we continue to grow and expand in Canada.

Normally this position is based out of Actalent engineering center in Ville Saint-Laurent. It is also possible to work remotely on occasion, with the occasional visit to the center. This person may also be asked to spend some time on-site with local clients if the need arises.

**Role and Responsibilities**

The Manufacturing Technologist or Engineer (Methods) will be involved in a variety of complex project work in many areas, including at different times. Though the focus for this current assignment is for an center-based manufacturing individual we also want the employee to be capable of varied positions in the methods domain.

1. Methods and methods qualification. Methods documentations, proposals for procedures of operations in machining, fabrication and assembly of customer components in customers, or subcontractor’s facilities. These procedures may be required to be created, executed and validated for their effectiveness, efficiency and cost effectiveness. Time studies may be required, and best practices indoctrinated into these procedures. Kaizen and other Lean type processes may be required to integrate and lead with customer’s or their supplier’s staff.

**Tasks**:
1. Create weekly and monthly metric reports as requested by customers or internal engineering groups.

2. Interact with prospective and current suppliers and/or customer resources to validate manufacturing methods and ensure project deliverables

3. After appropriate study of customer and operational requirements, document and create methods documentation and procedures to efficiently perform the work and produce in the format required by the customer’s systems.

5. Accurate and timely completion of all required quality documents, whether from the assigned customer, or from Actalent.

**Education and Experience Requirements**:
1. A technical degree in manufacturing or in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (significant methods experience would also be acceptable)

2. Manufacturing and fabrication experience

3. Manufacturing Methods experience in an assembly shop, machine shop or fabrication in an industrial, automotive (desired) and aviation (a plus) industries

4. Working knowledge of ISO9000

5. Has experience working with multidisciplinary teams of people including hourly production technicians, materials, design, procurement, and quality.

6. Lean and Six Sigma training (an asset)

7. Knowledge of 3D software is required, Solid Works and Catia etc. (An asset)

**Skills**:
1. Ability to utilize MS office software

2. Strong verbal and written communication skills (French is a priority, English an asset, preferably bilingual)

3. Presentation skills, to present projects or work to internal and external clients

4. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, solid problem-solving skills, customer focus

5. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

6. Excellent problem solving and time management skills

7. Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge

8. Self-motivated and highly organized

9. Understands the functions and proper usage of measuring equipment

10. Able to work within an integrated product team involving Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, etc.

11. Able to manage priorities, and project manage work given

12. Lean manufacturing techniques (an asset)

**Salary**: $25.00-$28.00 per hour

- Manufacturing/Methods processes for Production: 1 year (preferred)
- GD&T: 1 year (preferred)
- Reading shop floor/production documentation: 1 year (preferred)
