**Main Purpose and Function**

The Supervisor, Park Experience is responsible for the following business units:

- **Park Ranger Department** - oversees the management of day-to-day operation of the Park Ranger program, including two exempt Park Ranger Superintendents, four Lead Park Rangers and approximately twenty-five Park Rangers. The primary role of the Park Ranger team is to provide regular park patrols and respond to emerging requests related to park safety, accessibility, and cleanliness.
- **Park Experience/Fieldhouse Management** - Responsible for ongoing management of fieldhouse facilities, including maintenance, renovations and capital projects. Responsible for the oversight and management of Caretakers living in park fieldhouses.

The Supervisor, Park Experience is also responsible for assisting with managing operations for the following business units through an indirect, dotted-line, reporting relationship:

- **Stanley Park Miniature Train** - Assists the Director, Business Services with operational support and leadership for the Stanley Park Miniature Train, including human resources and facility operations.
- **Park Experience Department** - Assists the Director, Urban Relationships with operational support for the mobile Building Service Workers (BSW) team engaged in cleaning the Park Board’s network of 100+ public washroom facilities. Ensuring that customer service goals are met and that work is completed in an efficient and cost effective manner.

The Supervisor is responsible for managing staff; which includes hiring, termination, evaluation, discipline, support, coaching, training and development and representing the employer in the grievance process; establishing work schedules and procedures, co-ordinating activities with other work units; building relationships with customer and clients to improve service levels and increase customer satisfaction; performing crew audits to ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards; conducting job costing and bid tendering and reviewing various paperwork/invoices.

The position exercises independent judgment and initiative, including providing expertise to other divisions and participating in the development of policies and long-range plans.

**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**
- Manages contracted services to ensure compliance to the agreements and the achievement of financial targets.
- Works closely with directors, managers and staff to identify areas of opportunity and develop strategies and implement plans to enhance the Park Boards fiscal self-sufficiency.
- Analyzes outcomes in order to make strategic recommendations effecting financial outcomes.
- Setting work priorities, hiring, discipline and performance reviews of the positions reporting to them.
- Acts as the key contact for any Labour Relations or staff performance issues within the business units
- Is responsible for board communications, presentations and report writing
- Manages all external third party contractors performance and compliance
- Is accountable for all departmental key performance indicators and associated reporting
- Provides direct performance management objectives for 2 Park Ranger Exempt Superintendents and up to 30 front line Park Rangers, 17 Caretakers.
- Provides leadership and operational support for the following employees: 30 Miniature Train workers, 50 Building Service Workers
- Manages and forecasts an expenditure budget of $3.6M Park Rangers
- Directly responsible for all aspects of capital project, renovations and maintenance including daily operations of 75 Fieldhouses
- Provides daily management of the Resident Caretakers program, regularly liaising directly with the tenants
- Provides crisis management and mitigation around homelessness, the opioid crisis and violence in parks relative to impact on employees, tenants and park users
- Ensures regulatory and compliance regarding OH&S, Fleet Management and WCB policies on procedures
- Oversees grievances at all levels and support supervisors in performance and attendance management
- Prepares and present related reports including recommendations to the Committee and Board.
