**General Repair Technician (formerly Carpenter)**

Carpenters (GRT) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state GRTs use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a GRT.

**Responsible for**

The multi-talented GRT is _skilled_ in the following ways:

- Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
- Framing
- Drywalling, mudding, sanding and finishing
- Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim, landscapes, and portraiture not included)
- Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
- Insulation and vapour barrier installation
- Being awesome, in general
- Installation
- Doors
- Trim, moldings, and baseboards
- Hardware installation
- Cabinetry

**What you bring**

The GRT bring a host of abilities to their work with a ‘get it done’ attitude.

Additional abilities required include:

- Experience working in construction environments
- Tools and the skills to use them
- Strong people and communication skills
- Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
- A safety mindset
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to pass a criminal record check
- Ability to communicate in English

**Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory**:

- Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
- IICRC certification (restoration focus)
- WHMIS
- First Aid

**Of Note**

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour

**Experience**:

- home renovation: 1 year (preferred)
- residential carpentry: 1 year (preferred)
- installing and repairing cabinets: 1 year (preferred)
- drywalling and finishing: 1 year (preferred)
- brush and roller painting: 1 year (preferred)
- ceiling installation (knockdown and texturing): 1 year (preferred)
- installation (hardware, doors, trim, moulding, etc): 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Canadian Driver's License (required)
