Job Description Summary
To develop, coordinate, execute and lead the Faculty of Applied Science s alumni engagement program and strategies. The incumbent will lead and manage priority alumni relationships throughout the province, advancing the Faculty of Applied Science s strategic goals through building relationships and enriching the lives of alumni. The optimal goal is development of a lifelong relationship between the Faculty of Applied Science and its alumni.
Working in collaboration with the Faculty of Applied Science Dean s Office, the Development Office, Faculty Affairs, and alumni UBC, the incumbent identifies, cultivates and stewards relationships with key alumni leaders that may include leveraging existing alumni and institutional relationships, identifying volunteer opportunities to engage alumni, identifying opportunities for clinical faculty recruitment and engagement, building connections to respond to alumni interests, engaging academic units and facilitating fundraising opportunities as appropriate.
This position requires a thorough knowledge of the activities undertaken by alumni UBC, as well as knowledge of the Faculty of Applied Science and University policies and procedures.
Organizational Status
Reports to: Assistant Dean, Development and Alumni Engagement and the Director, alumni UBC.
Works with: This position is a member of the Faculty Dean s Office - Development Unit, and works closely with the Faculty, staff and student leadership; Faculty Advisory Committees; student and alumni groups representing the Faculty which include: School of Nursing; School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture; School of Community and Regional Planning; Engineering and UBCO Engineering; as well as colleagues in the Office of alumni UBC.
May involve the President s Office, Vice-Presidential Offices, Ceremonies, Public Affairs, and other senior administrators, as appropriate.

Work Performed
- Works in partnership with the Faculty of Applied Science Advancement team and alumni UBC to facilitate strategic alumni relationships to maximize student, alumni and community engagement and support for the Faculty.
- Develops and implements a comprehensive plan for identifying, cultivating, engaging, and stewarding high-level student and alumni leaders.
- Develops and implements strategies to identify alumni needs, attitudes and feelings toward the Faculty and connect them with appropriate opportunities and partnerships within the University.
- Ensures appropriate recognition, acknowledgment and stewardship programs are implemented for identified student, alumni and community leaders.
- Develops and implements a program of assessment and evaluation to monitor and measure progress.
- Assists in developing a comprehensive plan for identifying, cultivating, engaging and soliciting donations in support of the Faculty.
- Maintains accurate information management of alumni.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic Alumni and Community Relations
- Develops strategic plans, in collaboration with faculty and university partners, to leverage alumni and community engagement, knowledge of alumni, interaction with students, alumni networks and strengthen faculty partnerships with identified priority alumni communities.
- Identifies and builds connections with individual alumni and community connectors to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to mobilize alumni to be Faculty of Applied Science ambassadors and build networks.
