Job Summary
The Alumni Engagement Manager will be working with 25 teams in 13 sports. UBC boasts the most successful program in Canadian Interuniversity Sports (CIS), as Thunderbird teams have won over 100 CIS national championships to date, adding eight banners in the U.S.based National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
The Alumni Engagement Manager will work closely with the Senior Director of Development and the Senior Director, Alumni Engagement in the development and implementation of the alumni relations program for the Department of Athletics and Recreation. The role will be instrumental in developing and managing an alumni program in order to advance the Department of Athletics and Recreation’s strategic goals. The optimal goal is the development of lifelong meaningful relationship between the Department of Athletics and Recreation and UBC alumni affiliated with athletics.
This position will lead all alumni engagement events, volunteer activity, and communications. This includes responsibility for the various varsity team e-newsletters and website maintenance.
Organizational Status
Reports to: Senior Director of Development, Athletics, and Senior Director, Alumni Engagement, _alumni UBC._
Works with: This position is a member of the Department of Athletics and Recreation and _alumni UBC_; works closely with the Department, staff and student athletic and recreation leadership; Advisory Committees; alumni groups representing the Department; and colleagues at _alumni UBC._
May involve the President's Office, Vice-Presidential Offices, Ceremonies, Public Affairs, and other senior administrators, as appropriate.
Contacts: Alumni, students, athletes, faculty, staff, volunteers, donors, external community and professional organizations and government agencies.
Work Performed
Works in partnership with the Athletics and Recreation department to facilitate strategic alumni relationships to maximize alumni, student and community engagement and support for the Athletics and Recreation department.
Leads alumni engagement activities, including planning and execution of a series of high impact alumni events; manages a comprehensive alumni program to engage alumni.
Manages strategic communication including responsibility of varsity team newsletters and communications.
Manages and stewards key strategic relationships with alumni, volunteers, students and other stakeholders; identify alumni needs and connects them with appropriate opportunities and partnerships within Athletics and or University.
Maintains accurate information management of alumni and integrates data collection and data mining into work plan
Implements a comprehensive plan for identifying, cultivating, engaging, and stewarding high-level alumni and student leaders.
Works closely with Senior Director, Development and Senior Director, Alumni Engagement to ensure appropriate recognition, acknowledgment and stewardship programs are implemented for identified alumni, student and community leaders.
Assist development staff in implementing a comprehensive plan for identifying, cultivating, engaging and soliciting donations in support of the Athletics and Recreation department.
Performs other related duties as required (especially those related to the planning and execution of events and/or activities).
