At Queen Margaret's School (QMS), we are dedicated to maintaining a safe and inspiring environment for our students and staff. We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Maintenance Worker to join our team. While your primary focus will be on building maintenance, repairs, and improvements across the campus, you will also be expected to assist with general labour and grounds maintenance tasks to ensure the campus remains well-maintained and tidy. A broad understanding and knowledge of building systems are essential, and expertise in one area (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, carpentry or electrical) would be an asset but is not required.

**Position Overview**:
As a Maintenance Worker, you will ensure our facilities remain in excellent condition by performing repairs and conducting routine maintenance across the campus. Tasks will be assigned based on your skill level and experience, with more specialized tasks given in areas where you have higher levels of expertise.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Ensure the safety, functionality, and upkeep of all campus facilities and grounds.
- Undertake redecoration tasks, including painting and touch-ups on both interior and exterior surfaces.
- Provide basic carpentry, drywall, flooring, and furniture repairs, with responsibilities assigned based on your expertise and experience.
- Perform additional duties as required, such as assisting with landscaping projects, snow clearing, and other seasonal tasks.
- Conduct checks and perform routine maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, tailored to your skill set and knowledge.

**What We’re Looking For**:

- Proven experience in building maintenance or construction, with a foundation in various systems and general repairs.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with others.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, moving materials, and using equipment.
- Familiarity with safety practices, including WHMIS.
- Expertise in one area (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or painting) is beneficial but not required.
- A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license; additional certifications like Red Seal would also be an asset.
