**Laboratory Analyst 1 - Bioassay**

**Location: Edmonton, Alberta**

**Job Overview and Responsibilities**:
**Primary responsibilities include the following (but are not limited to)**:

- Maintain organism cultures. Assist with organism culture troubleshooting.
- Perform calibration and routine maintenance of instrumentation in accordance with WIs. Assist with trouble shooting equipment issues.
- Review LIMS summary report to plan and prioritize daily work to accommodate due dates, rush requests, and hold times.
- Prepare reagents and standards as per SOPs and WIs
- Prepare and analyze test samples in accordance with SOPs
- Provide preliminary client updates, as required
- Keep accurate records for all work
- Inform Supervisor if SOP requires clarification or updates
- Participate in internal/external audits, and contribute to MIAs, NSCs, investigations/corrective actions, when requested
- Enter and verify data including TOXELN reporting
- All other responsibilities as assigned

**Is there a mutual fit? You ideally have**:

- A University Degree or a College Diploma in Sciences: biology, ecotoxicology or related field with special emphasis in the discipline of toxicity
- Two (2) years related ecotoxicology or biology laboratory experience is an asset
- Ability to keep accurate records in order to comply within GLP standards
- Self-directed and proven ability to organize, execute plans and objectives
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) as well as outstanding computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
- A strong ability to work independently as well as engage others when required in escalation of concerns to meet the client needs or to best manage client disappointments
- Energetic and keen personality with a positive outlook who thrives in a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking, prioritizing and adapting to changes are required
- **Valid class 5 drivers license with less than 6 demerits**

Experience:

- Minimum Education: Diploma in related field (required)
- 2 years of experience in related field (preferred)

Schedule:

- Shift Work
- Willing to work overtime when necessary (including weekends)
