EMSL Canada is seeking a full time **Assistant Laboratory Manager **specializing in Asbestos analysis for its new **Edmonton, AB **location. Senior Labroatory Analysts are welcome to apply

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy) for fibers in air by NIOSH 7400.
Ensure company policies, SOPs and safety plans are adhered to by laboratory personnel.
Ensure work scheduling procedures adequately addresses client needs and establish or adjust work flow accordingly to meet TAT (turnaround time) schedules.
Assist Laboratory Manager with new employee training/onboarding at the laboratory.
Provide customer services for clients.
Support the Quality Assurance program by ensuring all Quality Assurance standards are implemented, understood and administered according to company policy and the requirements as documented by ISO 17025 standards.
Perform all duties including scheduling, reporting and record keeping as outlined by company policy. Maintain and troubleshoot equipment when needed.

**Requirements**:
Bachelor's Degree in a Life Sciences field: Geology or Biology preferred.
Proficiency with Asbestos PLM analysis is required.
Must have training with light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petro-graphic microscopes.
Previous laboratory management or supervisor experience is preferred. Senior Analysts are welcomed to apply.
Knowledge of NVLAP and ISO 17025 procedures is a plus.
Must have experience with Quality Assurance/Quality Control in a laboratory setting.
Must be able to travel to for training in Canada and/or United States.
Must be able to distinguish between colors in order to perform analysis.
Must be able to work independently and with a team.
Must be able to work well under pressure and meet client deadlines.
Must have good computer skills both in typing and MS Office.
Proficiency with Microbiology laboratory spore trap and direct fungal examination is a plus.

**Available Shift**:
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m..
