**Position Summary**:
The Financial Data Analyst analyzes and summarizes detailed health benefit financial information to identify relevant trends and summarize in the form of reports, budget tracking dashboards and charts to validate claims and service invoices, report on related expenditures and identify, describe and report on areas of concern. This role performs economic and financial analyses on Health Benefits data to identify patterns of access and costs, highlight trends and variances across Health Benefits, associated funding agreements, and perform impact analyses related to benefit policy changes.
**As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.**
**Responsibilities**:
- Reports on Health Benefits claims access and expenditures, integrating data from a variety of sources to provide a complete picture of Health Benefits activities and performance, highlighting trends and identifying variances beyond expected thresholds
- Reconcile claims and service invoices, identify recoveries and variances, report on related activities and expenditures, and identify, describe, and report on areas of concern between FNHA and Government partners
- Develops and maintains forecasting methodologies and tools to track and monitor trends and flag variances for Health Benefits programs services, provides reporting to senior management, as required
- Liaises with Finance and Health Benefit Operations teams to reconcile financial variances in Health Benefits reporting between sources by collecting and analyzing account information, including identification and monitoring of accruals, audit recoveries and other sources of discrepancy
- Develops financial and client impact analyses resulting from proposed policy changes or updates to Health Benefits programs

**Qualifications**:
- University degree in Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, Accounting, Commerce, plus 3 to 5 years of recent, relevant experience, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience
- Experience with reporting, analysis, and visualization tools including SQL, and Tableau (or Power BI), R or PythonExperience with transactional-based reporting, analysis, and reconciliation, preferably in the health sector
- Experience working with Microsoft Office productivity software
- Experience reconciling transactional data from different sources and with financial summaries
- Experience monitoring service contracts, including the validation and reconciliation of invoices
- Experience developing both detailed transactional and summary reports
- Experience developing standard operating procedures and process documentation is an asset
- Experience working with First Nations is an asset

- Knowledge of current health programs and services, claims guidelines, and best practices
- Knowledge of reconciliation and contract management practices
- Demonstrated ability to pay attention to details and maintain strong work ethics
- Ability to summarize information into written documentation or briefing note format
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and as part of multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix environment
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, translating complex concepts into easily understood and audience appropriate formats
