The Assessment team is at the heart of this effort, connecting directly with residential, commercial, and industrial property owners to determine market values and ensure the financial resources needed for Cochrane’s municipal services.
This fast-paced, detail-driven team juggles multiple priorities, from understanding municipal government regulations to interpreting taxation policies, building permit processes, and construction guidelines. They operate with precision, confidentiality, and discretion, ensuring assessments meet provincial standards while supporting Cochrane’s ongoing growth.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Shape the Future of Cochrane - Ensure accurate and equitable property assessments that support Cochrane’s rapid development and thriving economy.
- Leverage Technology for Precision - Maintain and update the CAMAlot Assessment System, integrating subdivision records, building permits, school support declarations, and sales files into a comprehensive database.
- Decode Blueprints and Design - Review construction plans to verify assessment accuracy, ensuring quality standards align with property classifications.
- Field Work with Purpose - Conduct on-site physical inspections, engage with stakeholders, and collect property attribute data firsthand to enhance assessments.
- Advocate for Cochrane’s Residents - Present and defend property assessments before review boards, making data-driven arguments that impact planning and fairness.
- Engage with Industry Leaders - Communicate with developers, property owners, tenants, and other professionals, building relationships that shape Cochrane’s landscape.
- Drive Innovation in Public Service - Organize priorities, collaborate with teammates, and contribute to a forward-thinking assessment strategy that benefits Cochrane’s residents.

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma in Property Assessment, Property Appraisal, or equivalent.
- Minimum two years of experience in residential or non-residential property valuation.
- Professional designation (AMAA, AACI, CAE) or actively pursuing certification.
- Real Property Assessment Certificate
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and statistical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CAMAlot, CREB, and SPSS.
- Excellent communication, public relations, and presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
