**Working for the Accelerating Clinical Trials Indigenous Health Committee**

The Accelerating Clinical Trials (ACT) Indigenous Health Committee was established in May 2023 to support and advance Objective #10 of the ACT Consortium which seeks to
- “Improve the process of involving Indigenous Peoples in trials and establish a process to identify Indigenous Health Priorities and interventions for evaluation.”_

This role advances the mandate of the IHC and the identified health priorities of Metis Peoples and communities, and will work to create meaningful, rights-based, and respectful relationships to support and respond to their health needs, while strengthening partnership and collaboration in Indigenous health research and Indigenous Clinical Trial research specifically. To support this work and advise on these relationships, this role will involve communities and will invite Metis Peoples and communities, as well as other rights-holders in Indigenous health to participate in setting and collaborating on health priorities to be included in future Indigenous clinical trial research.

**Position**

The Indigenous Clinical Trial Research Assistant is responsible for supporting the coordination of clinical trial research studies in the areas identified by Metis Peoples and communities as part of the Accelerating Clinical Trials Indigenous Component. This position is a key component of the study management and support team in the Clinical Trials Office and reports to the Indigenous Clinical Trials Project Lead. The Indigenous Clinical Trial Research Assistant works collaboratively with investigators, Metis study participants, health care providers, distinctions-based Knowledge Keepers/Elders, representative governments/organizations, and/or other research support staff to ensure the safe, respectful, and successful conduct of clinical trials research studies. This position may provide a range of support services including, but not limited to, contract and ethics submissions, study set up and coordination, and other research activities as needed.

**Duties**

Trial Protocol Coordination and Oversight
- Assists in the development of clinical trial research protocols for health priorities identified by Metis community partners.
- Organizes and prepares reports, collects study data, performs data analysis and site visits.

Research Participant Contact, Support, and Relationship Management
- Screens and recruits potential study participants; obtains participant consents, and facilitates study participation.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with all management and support staff study team members as well as external community partners.

Administration and Data Management
- Ensures study adheres to local, regional, and distinctions-based (Indigenous) ethical guidelines and legal requirements for research.
- Oversees research study data management processes to ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, and site-and-project specific requirements.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Master's degree (completed or nearing completion) in any related discipline (Native Studies, Education, Health Sciences)

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Demonstrated experience working safely and respectfully alongside Indigenous Peoples and communities.
- Previous experience undertaking community-based research and data analysis.
