**Ultra-Traxx - Driver Operator Position (Ultrasonic Testing)**

- Ultra-Traxx provides high-quality service with great integrity while performing non-destructive rail testing (NDT) services for its customers all over North America. _**The shift schedule **_fluctuates when on the road vs. field work, and _**can range from 8 hour - 14 hour shifts depending on the task at hand.**_

The Driver Operator will operate the Rail flaw Detection Unit on and off the railroad tracks and in all road conditions. The driver will perform all vehicle inspections and directly set up or assist the Chief Operator in all equipment setups, measurements, and recordings. The driver will service, maintain, and repair the vehicle and all associated mechanical parts associated with the ultrasonic test equipment.

Having experience with Ultrasonic Testing (UT) or in the rail industry is an asset, we are open to individuals with experience in either of the industries.

**Responsibilities**:

- Operate and maintain rail flaw detector vehicle while being able to perform reporting procedures required by the company and customer.
- Comply with Ultra-Traxx and customer specific procedures and safety regulations.
- Maintain and organize all equipment, clean, grease mechanical components on test vehicle including Hi rail gear and flaw detection carriage. Maintain and repair the flaw detector carriage.
- Able to lead and assist others while providing instruction to fellow crew members concerning all policies, guidelines, and procedures specific to the customer.
- Operate the rail flaw detector vehicle while on or off track and drive on the public roadways.

**Basic skills required**:

- Ability to read instructions written in English and follow technical specifications.
- Have a good understanding of National Safety and Department of Transportation regulations.
- Able to understand safety regulations, safe work practices and work procedures and be capable of assisting in maintaining safe work sites.
- Proficiency in the safe operation and maintenance of equipment and tools used for everyday use.
- Ability to take a leadership role and exercise diplomacy and cooperation with the railroad personnel.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Highschool Diploma or GED Required.
- Must have a **valid class 5 license.**:

- Must provide a **driver's abstract**.
- Must have a **valid passport **and ability to work outside Canada if required.
- 1 year + experience performing ultrasonic testing considered a plus
- Able to pass a background check.
- Able to pass a “Fit for Duty” and “Drug and Alcohol” test if requested.
- Knowledge of the railroad industry would be an asset but not required.

**Working Conditions**:
Most of the work will be completed in the field across Canada or in the United States, however; some office, customer visits, and meetings will be required as needed. This position requires significant amounts of travel, as working out of town is necessary to complete all requirements of the position. In addition, this position does some work outside, sometimes in extreme weather conditions.

**Salary**: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
