**Employment type**:Temporary full-time (Monday to Friday) *Maternity leave coverage approx. 12 months
**Position overview**:
The Recreation Coordinator develops and coordinates the delivery of social, recreational, therapeutic and volunteer programs consistent with the needs, interests and abilities of persons in care within the five domains: cognitive, physical, emotional, spiritual and social. Respects and promotes the dignity and individuality of each person in care by recognizing them as individuals with unique cultural, spiritual, and psycho-social needs. The Recreational Therapist is responsible for ensuring the department's initiatives are supportive of achieving program goals for the population, and within the Social of Model of Care utilizing the person-centered approach.
**Education/Requirements/Skills**:
Therapeutic Recreation Diploma;
Experienced in conducting assessments and building programs to reflect resident needs;
Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills;
Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills;
Excellent communicator (in English; verbal and in writing);
Strong computer skills;
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others;
Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation;
Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others;
Creative, energetic, approachable, and highly motivated;
Genuine interest in caring for the elderly;
Current First Aid/CPR C/AED certification;
Food Safe Level 1 & Serving It Right certification;
Non-Violence Crisis Intervention / Violence Prevention;
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
**As of May 15, 2020 in order to mitigate the risk of the transmission of COVID-19 among persons in our care, patients, residents and also staff in our long-term care facilities, an order under the Public Health Act was enacted to limit movement of staff between long-term care facilities.**
**This vacancy is located at a licensed long-term care facility and will be pursuant to this order.**
- Please note that as a result of the Single Site Order, the current hourly rates are temporary and are in place for the duration of the single worksite restriction period or until further directions from the Ministry of Health._
