**SOCIETY **is a multi-service non-profit
organization supporting the independence and well-being of the elderly, people with disabilities, and
others who require support to retain or regain health and autonomy. Since 1972 the dedicated team at
GVCSS has provided compassionate, effective and client-focused care that helps people retain their
independence and remain living safely at home. The Home Support Manager is a Full Time Position and
plays an integral role in the Home Support program by ensuring that home support services are provided
in an effective and coordinated manner. They will manage the daily operations of the Home Support
program and assist the Director to implement and monitor the home support Quality Assurance Program.
**Key Responsibilities:
**The Home Support Manager assists the Director to implement and monitor the home support Quality
Assurance Program. This includes but is not limited to, collection and management of data and client
satisfaction surveys, completion of funder reports and respond to funder inquiries, scheduling and
attending funder meetings, investigates, resolves and follow up on operational problems, prepares
internal and external reports and coordinates and implements quality improvement initiative measures
and special projects
1.Manages scheduling and day-to-day needs for Supervisors and nurses. Provides operational
assistance when needed. Oversees OH & S requirements for Home Support Program.
2.Directs and manages the daily operations of the Home Support program by providing supervisors,
nurses and field service staff with sound operational procedures that would guide and support them in the
execution of their duties.
3.Investigates and manages complaints, keeps statistics and analyzes patterns to develop
strategies/corrective measures, provide coaching and feedback to the staff.
4.Provides support to Supervisors in the use of the Procura System to problem solve scheduling
challenges and produce related reports.
5.Conducts performance evaluations of supervisory staff on a regular basis, identify corrective measures
and provide coaching and feedback to the staff. When required, carries out staff disciplinary action for
both supervisory and field staff, responds to staff grievances and resolves labor conflicts and problems in
accordance with the Collective Agreement and labor management principles and practices.
6.Provides orientation and continual training of staff and assists Director of Care with monthly meetings.
7.Ensures educational materials are up to date, meeting the practice standards and protocols. Ensures
the Annual Training and Education for all the home support staff is up to date.
8.Develops behavioral care plan for highly complex clients to maintain effective/safe care provision by
Community Health Workers.
**Skills and Experience**:
Minimum of five (5) years of Home Support industry experience
Minimum of five (5) years of Supervisory/management experience, preferably in a unionized
environment; or an equivalent combination of clinical experience and education.
Completion of a Nursing Program and current registration with BCCNM is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills on the use of Procura system
Strong organizational, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to train and mentor others.
Demonstrated skills in developing surveys, tabulating results and using the different computer
systems to create statistics, graph and recording system to support/monitor projects
progress/completion.
Must be able to use own vehicle for work.
Must be able to work flexible hours on occasion.
