**Heavy D’s Barbershop is proudly family owned and operated.**

We are open 5 days a week in the heart of Departure Bay, located in the beautiful harbour city of Nanaimo, B.C. Our experienced staff take pride in creating a great experience for their clients, and always strive to make each service better than the last.

**Education/Experience**
- Graduate from hairdressing or barbering program
- 2 years minimum experience

**Our Barbers**

We are a busy, oceanside shop with an established clientele. Our barbers (on average) take care of 15 clients per day, and are very hardworking and self-motivated individuals. Our team is efficient and professional, and work together to help make everyone in the building enjoy their experience.

**Shop perks**

Because we work in 10 hour shifts, all barbers get 3 days off per week while maintaining a fulltime schedule. We also take an extended break every holiday season and for one week each summer.

We offer a competitive and professional pay structure that guarantees a base wage (determined by experience) in addition to a fixed commission rate on services and product sales. Our services commission rate goes up by 5% after one year of consecutive work in the shop.

We provide our staff with their own custom online booking profile and marketing materials to help build their clientele. We also supply shop branded clothing and backbar supplies to ensure everyone has what they need to take care of their clients.

We value education and staying current with trends and techniques. Our staff are required to participate in on-going training, and we also take part in community fundraisers/events as a shop.

**Salary**: $15.65-$30.00 per hour

- Nanaimo, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

- Hair styling: 2 years (required)
