**About the Role**

The Accountant Level I is a member of the Support Services team reporting to the Controller. This position supports the accounting function of Ladysmith & District Credit Union by performing a variety of tasks including:

- Processing entries to the general ledger and retrieving items posted to member accounts
- Balancing and reconciling general ledgers, RRSP, RRIF, sub ledgers
- Processing utility bills and accounts receivable.
- Monitoring and resolving issues as they relate to the processing of cheques and electronic transactions through the clearing system
- Fostering relationship building through service excellence
- Extracting and compiling financial data on request
- Maintaining records
- Preparing and reconciling daily reports as required.
- 2+ years experience in an accounting or related position
- Business or accounting certificate or equivalent
- Enrolment in a professionally recognized accounting program would be an asset
- Education supplemented by Credit Union specific courses including Credit Union Products and Services would be preferred
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to deal effectively with queries regarding procedures in a professional manner
- Ability to develop positive working relationships with staff and members and are dedicated to providing exceptional service to all.

Pay: $27.66-$30.12 per hour
