**EDUCATION AND TRAINING**
- High School Diploma an asset

**KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE**
- Knowledge of the safe operation of basic hand and power tools
- Knowledge and experience with Overhead Cranes an asset
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures

- **JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

- Work from blueprints to lay out reference points and patterns, as well as construct patterns and templates
- Review drawings and discuss them with the Shop Supervisor and or Lead Hand
- Plan the sequence of tasks and decide how to cut the steel most efficiently
- Determine the materials required and obtain them from stock
- Assemble and fit metal sections and plates together to form complete units or sub-units
- Use metal-working machines and cutting torches to cut steel, drill or punch holes, roll, bend or press steel into the desired shapes
- Tack weld or bolt sections together
- Fasten components together (by mechanical means or tack weld) in preparation for a welder to complete the process
- Instruct apprentices and welders helpers
- Mentor apprentices
- Operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment in a safe manner
- Other duties as required
- Follow Safe Job Practices and Procedures

**Salary**: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
