JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Environment Department Manager, the Field Liaison Coordinator is a full-time (1-year contract) position that will support the Environment Department’s staff with duties and responsibilities relating to Caldwell First Nation environment and archaeology fieldwork for both internal and external projects. The individual will assist the department by coordinating field staff schedules and agreements, as well researching, gathering, and organizing relevant material and information that contributes to department projects and administration. The Coordinator will complete policy reviews, archeological assessment reviews and program delivery in the off-season. The Coordinator must understand Caldwell FirstNation’s priorities and work to promote their vision and values.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Supervise a team of field staff working on multiple sites;
- Maintain and monitor a designated web-based scheduling and invoicing system;
- Conduct site visits as required to assess staff performance, project outcomes and impacts;
- Coordinate information sharing with field staff, external staff, and other internal staff within Caldwell First Nation;
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders regarding fieldwork, fieldwork outcomes, and field staff;
- Review Archeological Assessments and environmental reviews in the off-season;
- Review Archeological legislation and policy and stay up to date;
- Review the Field Liaison Representative policy annually and up date it as necessary;
- Provide research support - compile information and data as requested;
- Prepare weekly and monthly Department progress reports as required;
- Assist with the preparation of information and engagement sessions for Caldwell First Nation members and Chief and Council;
- Comply with all Caldwell First Nation Band policies and procedures.

Working Conditions:

- The position primarily works at Caldwell First Nation in Leamington, Ontario. The hours of work will vary from day to day depending on when FLRs are scheduled to start shifts and end shifts. While the core office hours are typically Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm this position will require the ability to answer phone calls and log notes prior to the core working hours and after as well depending on needs and programming;
- Lifting up to 20 pounds;
- Bending, lifting, reaching, kneeling, and using a ladder when required.

Travel:

- Some travel maybe required such as for General Membership Meetings, picking up supplies as needed, and conducting site visits as needed;
- Some travel may require staying overnight depending on location.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Post-Secondary degree in Indigenous studies/Archeology/Indigenous history/ or equivalent;
- A combination of education and/or experience will be considered;
- Experience working with an Indigenous community will be considered an asset;
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous traditions, values, and practices, as well as historical and contemporary challenges faced by Indigenous Peoples;
- Must understand the Crown’s Duty to Consult process and how it is triggered;
- Knowledge in legislation, regulations, and policies regarding the Duty to Consult, Indigenous People and treaty rights, and environmental sector and governance is an asset;
- Two - three years’ experience providing clerical support and report writing;
- Experience analyzing reports, creating high level summaries, report writing and the creation of statistical reports;
- Experience with complex scheduling environments and software;
- Possess strong research skills and ability to convey information effectively verbally and in written forms;
- Possess a high level of organizational, analytical, and administrative skills;
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced work environment and adapt to task switching;
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks accordingly;
- Must live within 100km of Leamington, ON; in-person attendance is mandatory and schedule-dependant alongside hybrid work-from-home accommodation;
- Must provide current Vulnerable Sector Check acceptable to position upon conditional offer;
- Valid G license and clean driver’s abstract;
- Access to reliable and personal vehicle;
- Current car insurance policy.

COMPENSATION:

- The position is hourly on a basis of 37.5 hours per week at $35 per hour;
- Health benefits are provided as part of the compensation package upon successful completion of probationary period;
