- supervising and developing a team of direct reports (Program Coordinators, Property Managers & Tenant Support Workers) so you and they can create conditions that empower tenants to take responsibility for management of their living environment
Case Management and Programming Responsibilities:
- Inspires active involvement of residents in the supportive housing program and in the community.
- Implements policies and procedures for the effective and efficient operation of supportive housing.
- In consultation with the team, develops a program of activities, events, workshops, classes, etc. that enhance tenants’ quality of life and community inclusion.
- In consultation with tenants, plans regular tenant meetings, and supports tenants to participate in activities and supportive housing coordination standards and develop leadership in group decision-making.
- Coordinates and evaluates the effectiveness of quality-of-life activities to ensure achievement of objectives and ongoing development by creating new program activities based on need.
- Assists with conflict resolution and mediates disputes between tenants, also between
- Maintains records of service contracts and documentation, and ensures confidentiality of personal issues and security of all confidential tenant records.
- Investigates and follows up on incidents impacting safety, security, and stability of building and tenant population in cooperation with other staff.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate communication links with local service agencies, women-centered and homelessness and housing organizations/associations.
- Writes reports, assessments, newsletters, memoranda, agendas and policies. Assists tenants in the preparation of written communication to external agencies. Writes and present program updates at staff meetings and interdepartmental meetings.
- Knowledge of human services, and community development.
- Ability to assess the needs of clients, to work directly with physically and/or psychologically challenged persons, and to provide informal counselling and establish supportive relationships with tenants.
- Harm Reduction, Overdose Prevention and De-escalation training.
- High level of communication and human relations skills to communicate effectively with staff and the public.
- Mandatory Qualifications
- Theoretical and practical knowledge homelessness, mental illness, addictions, trauma, suicide intervention, harm reduction normally acquired through the attainment of an Undergraduate Degree in Social Work or equivalent Human Services education, plus a minimum of three years’ experience in the field. Masters in Social Work, Psychology, or Clinical Counselling would be an asset.
- Supervisory experience; teams of at least 10.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-Level C certification
- Valid Driver’s License.
- An up-to-date Vulnerable Sector Record Check
