As a Shop Labourer for Calgary Fire Department (CFD), you will perform a wide variety of duties, including preventative maintenance to heavy and light duty fleet. Primary duties include:
- Perform oil, filter and tire changes, fluid level checks, battery service, replace and/or adjust fan belts and wheel torquing.
- Conduct minor repairs to lights, windshield wiper blades, check and report any and all abnormal conditions and assist mechanics as required.
- Exchange computer laptops for I-Mobile.
- Ferry vehicles to and from dealers for repairs as well as to and from various fire stations throughout the city.
- Pick up parts as required.
- Pressure wash and clean CFD fleet.
- Operate powered mobile equipment used in the work environment, such as fork lifts and floor sweepers.
- Run, repair and maintain a variety of hand and power tools and other CFD equipment.
- Adhere to safety procedures established with the work unit.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the work environment and equipment used in the work area.
**Qualifications**
- A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED or CAEC [Canadian Adult Education Certificate]) and at least 3 years of related experience.
- A valid Class 3 Driver's License with Q endorsement (or provincial equivalent) and no more than six demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending is required. This may be obtained after start date if necessary.
- Heavy Equipment Technician training, Automotive Service Technician training, or a valid forklift training certificate will be considered assets.
**Working Conditions**:This position works in a shop environment with moving vehicles, parts and tools, noise, chemicals and vehicle fumes. Some work must be performed outdoors occasionally, or in tight spaces requiring physically demanding postures. Must have the ability to lift 20kg (45lbs) daily.**Pre-employment Requirements**

**Pre-employment Drug Test**: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis.
