Our Happy Place is a social/recreational enrichment program for special needs individuals between the ages of 18 and 65 years. We’re all about nurturing our member’s abilities, growing skills and highlighting talents. Our hope is at this program, our members will find their place to shine. Our Happy Place program members will have the opportunity to come together in a social atmosphere with their peers and share fun, entertaining, and learning experiences, while giving their caregivers some respite.

Qualifications: Certified DSW, SSW, CYW, PSW or equivalent. Minimum 1 Year Experience. First Aid and CPR Certified

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Facilitate community inclusion and participation, dependent upon individual needs, abilities and preferences, and support clients to establish and maintain relationships and interests through access to community activities, venues and services.
- Encourage positive and socially appropriate behaviour, and effectively manage challenging behaviour.
- To perform direct care duties for individual clients as required. Including but not limited to: showering, toileting, preparing lunch, assisting with physical and mobility requirements.
- Carry out and promote positive routines/duties/activities in a cooperative, respectful and flexible manner, which are meaningful and purposeful to the individual.
- Promote empowerment and the right of choice for all clients receiving program.
- Listen and respond to client/service needs within organizational guidelines, understanding that all needs are organic in nature.
- To be aware of safe working conditions and implement safe working practices in all work areas and report potential hazards, incidents and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain current knowledge and understanding of the relevant organizational procedures and guidelines.
- When required and/or requested, be involved in on the job training and/or orientation of new staff members, co-operative education students and volunteers.

**Job Types**: Casual, Part-time

**Salary**: $19.00-$21.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

**Experience**:

- support worker: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Class G Licence (preferred)
- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)

Work Location: One location
