**Basic Function**

The **Pharmacy Assistant - Shipping and Receiving** at SDM Specialty Health Services is responsible for the efficient picking, checking, packing, receiving, and shipping of customer orders in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.

**Nature and Scope**

The **Pharmacy Assistant - Shipping and Receiving** receives, checks, stages, and ships drugs, medical supplies, and patient materials following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Pharmacy Assistant - Shipping and Receiving is also responsible for performing other duties such as general housekeeping, inventory checks, and quality assurance checks. The work is performed according to established practices and procedures and is of a routine nature. The Pharmacy Assistant - Shipping and Receiving will assist the **Pharmacy Operations Lead** in the performance of their responsibilities and assume additional duties as directed.

**What You Will Do**

**Receiving**

- Receive and unload incoming products and compare information on packing slips with purchase orders to verify shipment accuracy.

- Sort, count, package, label, and unpack received inventory.

- Inspect shipments for damage, loss, or defects, and notify the Pharmacy Operations Lead of any findings.

- Accurately receive, sort, pack, and ship orders.

- Replenish shelves in the pharmacy and packaging areas.

**Material Handling**

- Review Picking Request worksheets and verify that patient details match the drug product pharmacy label.

- Verify if bundling of supplies is required with the drug order.

- Manage inventory of supplies and packing materials.

- Enter data into inventory and logistics software programs.

- Identify damaged, lost, or missing merchandise and notify the Pharmacy Operations Lead immediately.

- Check courier options and create shipping labels to ensure appropriate transit time and cost efficiency.

- Pack drug and/or supply orders in accordance with relevant procedures and standards.

- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, packaging areas, fridges, freezers, and workstations neat and orderly, complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations.

**Shipping**

- Prepare orders by processing requests and supply orders, pulling materials, packing boxes, and placing orders in the delivery area.

- Enter data into inventory and logistics software programs.

- Package and ship orders in accordance with SOPs, packaging guidelines, and accepted practices.

- Load pharmacy orders and transport them to the receiving area for courier pick-up.

- Replenish and rotate the stock of packaging materials in the pharmacy, refrigerator, and freezer.

**What You Will Need**

**Requirements**:

- High school diploma.

- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.

- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

- 95% of work is performed while standing. Approximately 75% of this time involves bending, reaching, climbing, pulling, pushing, and lifting objects up to 45 lbs.

- The physical environment is a clean, quiet pharmacy area.

- The position involves a routine work pace with a moderate degree of pressure.

- Flexibility and adaptability to changes in responsibilities based on business needs, including rotational shifts and occasional weekends.
