**Position Title**:_**After School Program Assistant **_

**Location**: St Mary’s Catholic Elementary School - Huntsville

**Terms of Employment**:
**Status**: Temporary, Part-Time

**Start Date**: Dec 6, 2024- June 26, 2024

**Rate of Pay**:$22.11-24.58 per hour plus 4% vacation pay

**Requirements**:

- Early Childhood Education Diploma and registered with the Ontario College of ECE’s or other related diploma would be an asset.
- Currently enrolled in ECE or child development course working towards ECE diploma would be an asset.
- Secondary School Diploma and one year related experience and/or education in a school age environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- A commitment to the childcare field with a philosophy that is conducive to that of Muskoka Family Focus and Children's Place.
- Knowledge and understanding of the How Does Learning Happen? Document and the Assurance for Quality Improvement Program.
- Able to meet the physical demands of daily program set up and take down.
- Worker Health and Safety Awareness Proof of Completion Certificate.
- Current Standard First Aid and Infant Child C.P.R. Certificate.
- WHMIS 2015 Training Certificate.
- Violence and Harassment in the Workplace Certificate.
- Completion of the Food Handlers Course would be an asset.
- Good attendance record.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Check and Medical Assessment, including immunizations and TB tests, on hiring and as required by Muskoka Family Focus and Children's Place policies.

**Responsibilities**
- Assist in the planning and implementation of educational activities for young children.
- Foster a safe and nurturing environment that promotes children's social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to support learning and development.
- Maintain organization in the classroom and assist with daily routines, including meal preparation and cleanup.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including Food Handler and First Aid protocols.
- Support children with diverse needs, including those with disabilities, through inclusive practices.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.11-$24.58 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

**Education**:

- DCS / DEC (preferred)

Work Location: In person

Expected start date: 2024-12-04
