**Overview**

The **Outdoor Experiences and Media Specialist** is responsible for the day-to-day operations of **The Callaghan** base area facilities, ski shop, and guest services, while acting as an ambassador for all of **The Callaghan’s** experiences, including Nordic skiing, snowshoe adventures, and the backcountry lodge. This is a customer-facing role that combines retail operations, guest support, maintenance, and digital marketing responsibilities to ensure an exceptional visitor experience both in person and online.

**Key Accountabilities: Primary Duties and Responsibilities1. Ski Shop & Guest Services Operations (40%)**
- Provide professional and friendly customer service to all visitors.
- Assist guests with ticketing, rentals, and retail purchases.
- Ensure efficient and accurate handling of transactions, cash, and point-of-sale systems.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming retail and rental environment.
- Support daily shop operations, including rental setup, equipment maintenance, waxing, and tuning.
- Manage equipment inventory and report any repair needs or shortages.
- Respond to guest inquiries regarding trail conditions, products, and services.

**2. Facilities & Maintenance Support (10%)**
- Assist with daily maintenance and cleanliness of the base area facilities, including public areas and staff zones.
- Support snow clearing, signage setup, and other outdoor operational needs as required.
- Report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly to management.

**3. Ambassador & Guest Experience Role (20%)**
- Act as an on-site ambassador for **The Callaghan**, promoting all activities including Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and the backcountry lodge.
- Provide knowledgeable and enthusiastic information about trails, conditions, programs, and upcoming events.
- Represent **The Callaghan** professionally in all guest interactions, contributing to a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- **Assist with journeyman lodge check-ins**, offering a warm welcome, facilitating the check-in process, and ensuring all guests are well-prepared and ready for their stay on Tuesdays.

**4. Social Media & Marketing Management (30%)**
- Create and manage engaging content across all **The Callaghan’s** social media channels (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok).
- Promote **The Callaghan’s** products, services, offers, sales, discounts, and special events through coordinated marketing campaigns.
- Provide regular updates on trail and weather conditions, special programs, and lodge operations.
- Capture and share photo and video content that showcases guest experiences and seasonal highlights.
- Respond to online comments and messages to foster an active and positive online community.
- Collaborate with management to develop digital marketing strategies and campaigns that align with brand identity.
- Track engagement metrics and report on the effectiveness of social media activities.
- Ensure that social media and marketing responsibilities are balanced to maintain focus on in-person guest service and ski shop operations.

**Desired Training & Skills**
- Experience or strong interest in Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and outdoor recreation.
- Proven ability to deliver friendly, professional customer service.
- Experience with retail operations, rentals, and POS or booking systems.
- Strong communication and organizational skills; able to balance multiple duties.
- Hands-on ability for light maintenance, snow clearing, and general facility support.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and content creation (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.).
- Basic skills in photography, videography, or graphic design (Canva or Adobe Suite an asset).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small, dynamic team.
- Awareness of outdoor safety practices and guest care.
- **Assets**: Hospitality or tourism experience; First Aid or outdoor certification.
