Our employee diversity enhances our ability to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse student population. Currently, approximately 20% of our students are Indigenous. - 1. Dealing with students:
The ultimate goal of a Coordinator is to provide excellent service to students such that they get the maximum value from the Co-operative Education component of their diplomas. A Coordinator is expected to give sound guidance/advice to students through every aspect of the job search process (i.e. cover letters, resumes, interviewing skills, accepting job offers, etc.). It is expected that Coordinators will establish/sustain a professional relationship with students, which may require a Coordinator to have difficult conversations with students (both before/during the work term), without compromising the academic integrity of Co-operative Education.
2. Dealing with international students:

A Coordinator is expected to consistently conduct her/himself in a manner that would represent Saskatchewan Polytechnic and Co-operative Education in a positive, professional light. This includes providing timely service to employers with regards to job postings, forwarding students’ resume packages, administering the interview set-up process, communicating job offer acceptances/rejections, conducting work site visits, and supporting employers to a full/reasonable extent, should situations arise with students on work terms. A Coordinator is also expected to actively solicit jobs and to make new contacts for potential jobs.
4. General communication:
A Coordinator must communicate collegially and co-operatively, understanding the goal is ultimately to serve students in the best possible way. This type of communication requires a respect for differences and a willingness to work through miscommunications. Good communications also imply an understanding of and respect for the roles of the Co-op Coordinator, Co-op Program Head, and Co-op Office Assistants.
5. General conduct:
A Co-operative Education Coordinator is a representative not only for Saskatchewan Polytechnic, but also for the Co-operative Education department.
