**Position Description**:
As a member of the Development Team this position is primarily responsible for fundraising activities related to corporate and government grants, public & private foundations. This position requires the ability to foster and develop Science World as a BC-based charitable organization that engages people of all ages in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Design, and Math) literacy.
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Partnerships, the Grants and Foundations Officer will develop, write and submit compelling grant requests and reports, establish and maintain personal contact with foundation and grant contacts, conduct prospect research, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines for all grants. In a team-based, dynamic environment they will provide support of events and special projects as requested.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Retain and grow a portfolio of strategic grant and foundation partnerships including prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship in support of Science World’s mission
- Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to research, prepare, write and submit, acknowledge and manage grant proposals to all potential funding sources including municipal, provincial, federal, corporate, public and private/family foundations
- Distribute impact communication reports to donors and submit required reports for existing grants
- Assemble and submit grant requests, including letters of inquiry, proposals, budgets, reports and presentations
- Develops an annual work plan with the Director, Corporate Partnerships that includes activities, financial targets and timelines
- Establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with funders
- Maintain a current calendar and record in Raiser’s Edge to track activities, manage pipeline, and report on status
- Prioritizes projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals
- Gather and track statistics when relevant to grants including liaising with other Science World internal departments for proposal preparation and reporting requirements
- Conducts prospect research for other team members and stays current on prospective donors and the marketplace
- Participates in overall department strategies and events to continue to increase fundraising revenue and cultivate a culture of philanthropy
- Promote a culture that is donor-centric, where requests from internal and external stakeholders are responded to with a high degree of urgency, professionalism and accuracy
- Operate within the philosophy, culture, and values of Science World
- Perform other related duties as required to fulfill any changing business needs of this role
Responsibility:
- Direct responsibility for meeting the foundation and grant revenue goals as part of the Development strategy
- High level of involvement, collaboration and communication with staff across the organization
- Must effectively manage all relationships to ensure a positive impact to Science World’s bottom line and community reputation

**Qualifications**:
- University degree in Communications, English, Writing or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Minimum 3 years related Development/Advancement or related experience
- Proven experience in grant writing, research and communication
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive grants
- Proficient in MS Office programs, CRM and research databases (e.g. Raisers Edge, Grant Connect, Foundation Search) and in conducting on-line research

- Demonstrated success in strategic proposal development, grant and foundation solicitation, gift closure, stewardship and grant reporting
