**Social Purpose & Impact Manager** **About Us** MCIS Language Solutions is a not-for-profit that has evolved into a social enterprise and has been relentlessly pursuing its goal to remove language barriers for over 30 years. With over 60 full time staff and engaging a roster of over 6,000 language professionals, MCIS provides a full suite of language solutions: from language interpretation, translation and transcription to localization, training, and training development for government, legal, police services and healthcare organizations in more than 300 languages. VALUES | Making a Difference, Compassion and Collaboration, Integrity and Innovation, Social Justice. **Social Purpose** Every year MCIS invests some of its net income into initiatives that support free services for vulnerable populations, training subsidies for aspiring interpreters and translators, and language advocacy initiatives such as the Our Language Rights Canada Conference on Canadian Language Advocacy Day. Our Social Purpose Statement is that we exist to uphold the human right to be informed, heard, and understood. Language rights protect the rights of individuals and groups to choose which language(s) they use in private as well as in public interactions, such as legal, health, educational or political access to information and services. Learn more here: MCIS Social Purpose Journey **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** As a Social Purpose & Impact Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing MCIS Language Solutions’ social impact strategy, ensuring alignment with our social purpose and core values. You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to design and execute programs that create meaningful social change by pursuing language justice and supporting the well-being of diverse linguistic communities. Your work will contribute to MCIS’ commitment to sustainable development goals (SDGs) and language rights as human rights. **The Social Purpose & Impact Manager role is comprised of the following activities**: **Social Purpose Implementation** - In consultation with the SPG and HR Teams, create an effective work plan to manage the implementation of activities (data collection, synthesis, analysis of outcomes, staff engagement, elements of the employee’s lifecycle experience and knowledge dissemination). - Support the development and implementation of the Social Purpose Governance framework (ISO 37000). - In consultation with the SPGI Team and collaboration with the HR contribute to the development and implementation of the staff, Board/ Committees, and selected vendor social purpose engagement mobilization strategies. - Collaborate with internal teams to integrate social purpose and impact considerations into business strategies, policies, and practices. - Engage in effective communication with individuals and departments at MCIS with respect to Social Purpose implementation and other activities. - Stay up to date with social impact and social purpose (governance) trends, the UN Global Compact and sustainable development goals (SDGs) as well as innovative practices in Canada and globally to drive continuous improvement. - Provide guidance and training to employees on social purpose and impact-related practices and community engagement. **Social Impact/ SBI Budget** - In collaboration with the SPG Team, develop social impact strategy, and monitor the outcomes of the SBI Fund. - Identify relevant social issues and challenges relevant to MCIS’ operations and develop SBI initiatives to address them. - Establish and manage partnerships with community organizations, NGOs, and government agencies to drive collective social impact initiatives. - Design and implement programs that promote social impact goals (language access), diversity, inclusion, employee volunteering, philanthropy, and/or community engagement. - Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and ethical guidelines in all activities. **Language Advocacy: Language Access Coalition of Canada** - Responsible for co-creation of annual celebration of Language Advocacy Day (ideation, event planning, reporting). - Monitor the language justice field and the effectiveness and outcomes of LACC initiatives. - Provide guidance and training to employees on language advocacy and citizen mobilization and engagement practices. - Supervise the maintenance of political partnerships/ relationships and lobbying activities promoting language access awareness, and development and implementation of more equitable language access policies. - Coordinate and supervise the work of Social Purpose, Governance and Advocacy Liaison, consultant(s) and volunteers, in the development and support of the annual Language Advocacy Day events and a
