Camp Security Lead

Camp Security Leads (CSL’s) will be located at the LandSea Sqémél Lalem Camp and will provide direct and indirect support to all stakeholders. With the coronavirus pandemic, those using LandSea Camps are a potential threat for the TMEX and hence security considerations require stringent monitoring of appropriate behaviours to mitigate this threat. CSL will enhance the security of the Sqémél Lalem Camp by:
- ensuring that all guests adhere to the Lodge rules and regulations,
- conducting investigations as required,
- conducting routine preventative patrols,
- supporting other security personnel through leadership, mentorship and strong communication,
- participating in stakeholder operations (ie. meal monitoring),
- providing daily reporting to TM and LANDSEA management,
- taking operational direction from the TM Regional Security/TM Camp Security Managers,
- exhibiting a high level of professionalism and respect towards all guests and clients.
Background
Venue: LANDSEA is the Lodge Service Provider for the TMEX project and the CSLs will work closely with LANDSEA personnel. In consolation with TM and Shaw’Ow’Hamel First Nations, LANDSEA developed the Lodge’s “Rules and Regulations” as well as the “Dinning Room Rules”. The LANDSEA Camp Manager is the decision maker if a guest’s Camp Privileges are revoked and will rely on an impartial investigation. LANDSEA Management can support CSLs in a variety of ways such as supplying daily roosters. It is important that CSLs work closely with and support LandSea Camps Operations.
TM Security Manager: With the TMEX Stakeholders, the TM Security Manager has developed systems and processes to control venue access and mitigate risks and threats. Skwo’: wch Paladin Security Personnel are governed by Post Orders and are required to ‘observe, record and report’ any incident. Security experience is greatly varied within the Level 1 personnel and there is a need for CSLs to support their professional development and mentor individuals as situations arise.
Specific duties and responsibilities included but not limited to:
- Hours of operations - Daily Coverage will be provided by 2 CSLs. Flexible hours will be implemented to address situations that require greater attention such as monitoring the Lounge on a Saturday and/or when conducting a lengthy investigation. Morning hours are expected to be 0430-1630 with afternoon hours are expected to be 1100-2300.
- Preventative Security Duties - a security presence deters unwanted behaviour while ensuring assets are secure. CSL is required to:
- conduct foot patrol within the Lodge to ensure emergency exits are clear & monitor compliance with Lodge rules and regulations,
- conduct foot patrols along perimeter fence,
- conduct foot patrols of parking lot.
- liaise with Skwo’: wch Paladin Security personnel at all positions to provide them ongoing assistance and training.
- Monitor and enforce all COVID 19 Policies.
- Conduct Investigations - Investigate and manage all incidents that are reported or encountered.
- Incidents will to be recorded by:
- obtaining a File number from the local TM Security Occurrence ledger,
- completing the TM Security Incident Report Form (see appendixes),
- document the investigation on the TM Continuation Report (see appendixes),
- document any exhibit seizure on the TM Exhibit Seizure Report (see appendixes),
- if required, contact and turn over investigation to the RCMP and support any ongoing investigation.
- Report Investigations - disseminate any reports as detailed in TM Reporting Matrix (see appendixes).
- RCMP - Liaise with local RCMP as required and encourage a relationship with local detachment personnel.
- LANDSEA Operation - provide ongoing daily support to LANDSEA Operations by:
- attending daily morning LANDSEA Operations toolbox meetings,
- enforcing the Lodge’s Rules and Regulations,
- close monitoring and enforcing the Lodge’s Dinning Room Rules during meals,
- assisting with security related requests such as “lock outs”,
- assist with removal of Guests and/or Personnel from venue ensuring access/meals cards are returned.
- Assist with select site operations when time permits to ease strain on other LandSea staff.
- Lodge Operations Meeting - support stakeholders by attending the daily TM and LANDSEA management meetings as requested or required.
- TM Security Stakeholder Operations - support all security stakeholders including:
- participation in Security Teleconferences with TM Security Team and 3Si or as required,
- read and supporting TM Security Post Orders for the respective Lodge,
- timely communication of intelligence/information to the appropriate TMEX Security Stakeholders considering any confidential issues.
