**5 WEEK - FIRST YEAR APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING AS A MARINE SERVICE TECHNICIAN**

**FEBRUARY 3rd - MARCH 7th, NANAIMO BC**

A Marine Service Technician (MST) is a skilled, ticketed, tradesperson who builds, refits, maintains, surveys and/or repairs vessels up to 150 feet. They work in marinas, boatyards, service centres and specialty businesses serving the ever-growing small craft recreational/commercial marine industry here on the coast.

Certified Marine Service Technicians are recognized with a Certificate of Qualification (CofQ) issued by Skilled Trades BC. The CofQ is a journeyperson ticket and the industry standard for Marine Service Technicians.

The marine service industry covers a wide range of technical areas: electrical, systems and installations, engines, joinery, metalwork, paint and coatings, rigging and sails, design, composites, yard/marina operations and parts. We're every trade in a trade, and every day is different

**Specialized training**:

- Hands-on workshops and classroom time for experience and skill development
- Instruction by marine industry experts who work in their specialty field every day
- ‘Earn while you learn’ model keeps you working and logging hours toward your certificate
- Workplace support for skill development and competency assessment with your employer at work
- Apprentices must have an **Employer Sponsor** who can provide work-based learning experiences.

Graduates of our apprenticeship and professional development programs are prepared to meet the varied demands of this unique industry.
