**ABOUT THE ROLE**

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The college instructor teaches in discipline areas in which they have specific training and competence. As such, the instructor is expected to plan, organize, and teach in a manner that aligns with the values of Anderson College. The instructor will be leading the classes at the Anderson College-North York Campus.

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**:

- Mentor, coach and support students through a commitment of educational excellence and passion in a variety of MLT disciplines
- Responsible for creating an effective and positive adult learning environment
- Develop, supervise and evaluate practical skills
- Maintain laboratory protocols and equipment
- Teach the curriculum in person and online when required, as outlined by the college and in adherence with the CSMLS competencies.
- Is passionate about Medical Laboratory Science and sharing their knowledge and experience with others
- Enjoys the dynamics of teaching and learning
- A commitment to lifelong learning through ongoing participation in professional development
- Utilizes effective organization and time-management skill set
- Effective working in both a team environment and independently
- Employs excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language
- Enjoys challenges and solving them through evidence
- Proven leadership and motivational skills and can work well under pressure.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Licensed Medical Laboratory Technologist - Active membership in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologist of Ontario, active membership with the MLPAO and CSMLS and must have “Phlebotomy” listed as a specialty on their CMLTO registration card
- Four years of experience of as a Medical Laboratory Technologist and or

*Medical Laboratory Assistant -Technician with four years’ minimum experience
- Must work under the license of the medical laboratory technologist (the Medical Laboratory Technologist must agree to this arrangement)
- Must be a member of the MLPAO in good standing (this is an annual membership)
- Credentials for all instructors must be kept on file at the campus and checked for renewal annually
- Experience teaching in the private or public college industry is preferred.

**Hours of Work**:

- 9:00 am - 1:00 pm / 1:00 pm
- 5:00 pm / 6:00 pm -10:00 pm
