The successful candidate will bring experience working with adult learners in a similar role and will also serve in a supportive instructional capacity, assisting with teaching, student guidance, and academic support as needed. The ideal candidate is committed to helping mature students achieve their academic and professional goals.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and oversee the clinical practicum component of the program to ensure alignment with program outcomes, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements.Support students throughout their clinical practicum experience, serving as a primary point of contact for guidance, problem-solving, and professional development.Place students at appropriate clinical sites based on program requirements, student readiness, competencies, and site capacity.Track, document, and monitor student competency attainment to ensure all required learning outcomes are met.Act as a liaison between the college and clinical partners, fostering clear communication, collaboration, and strong working relationships.Procure and develop additional clinical placement opportunities to support program growth and student placement needs.Manage practicum courses and related assessments, including assignment administration, marking, and providing timely, constructive feedback to students.Conduct site visits to support students, assess clinical suitability, strengthen partnerships, and ensure placement quality and compliance.Assess student performance and professional suitability during practicum and collaborate on action plans when concerns arise.Support instructional staff with teaching and delivery of laboratory components of the program as required.Maintain accurate records related to placements, competencies, evaluations, and communications with students and clinical partners.QualificationsMedical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) Diploma.Currently registered and in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologist of Ontario (CMLTO).Member with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).Minimum five years of recent experience in a clinical laboratory environment.Must have the ability to travel to clinical sites.Previous post-secondary teaching experience and the use of educational learning management systems (D2L) is considered an asset.Familiarity with the CAMPLR competency profile is considered an asset.The ideal candidateIs passionate about Medical Laboratory Science and sharing their knowledge and experience with othersEnjoys the dynamics of teaching and learningA commitment to lifelong learning through ongoing participation in professional developmentUtilizes effective organization and time-management skill setEffective working in both a team environment and independentlyEmploys excellent oral and written communication skills in the English languageEnjoys challenges and solving them through evidenceProven leadership and motivational skills and can work well under pressure.Note: Applications from people with disabilities are welcomed and encouraged.
