The Catholic Centre for immigrants (CCI) has been serving refugees and immigrants for more than 65 years. CCI is a bridge between the 7,000 immigrants and refugees who come to Ottawa each year and the community. We provide programs and services to help newcomers settle and integrate. The Food Server will play a vital role in ensuring that residents of the transitional housing receive meals in a respectful, clean, and supportive dining environment. This role involves serving meals, maintaining sanitation standards, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for residents.

This position reports to: Program Manager/Coordinator
Employment status: Full-time, until March 31, 2026
Hourly rate: $24.40
Deadline date to apply: May 27, 2025

Location: 230 Queen Street

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Serve meals to residents in a timely, courteous, and respectful manner.
- Ensure portion control and dietary guidelines are followed as directed.
- Set up and replenish serving stations and supplies as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of food service areas, including dining room, kitchen, and serving line.
- Assist delivery drivers in unloading food, supplies, and equipment into the kitchen or storage area.
- Collect and dispose of food waste and trash in a timely manner.
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling procedures.
- Assist with set-up and breakdown of dining area before and after meal service.
- Communicate any supply shortages, maintenance needs, or incidents to supervisors promptly.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

(Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills)
- Completion of secondary school required. College certificate in cooking or related field preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in an institutional or commercial kitchen.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food service.
- Food Handling certificate is required.
- Experience meeting diverse dietary and nutritional needs.
- Ability to function in a multidisciplinary, culturally diverse workplace.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Fluency in verbal and written English is essential. Fluency in other languages an asset.
