**Transitional Housing Support Worker**

The Transitional Housing Support Worker delivers housing supports, resources and services to shelter residents. The Transitional Housing Support worker will be a community support who will receive referrals from community agencies to support those that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. They will work in partnership with the Violence Against Women Shelter, Homelessness Shelter, Anti-Human Trafficking Crisis Services and other agencies supporting indigenous women.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work with all service users to ensure residents feel safe and are productive
- Work cooperatively with management to provide efficient well
- coordinated services
- Liaise with community partners for referrals for transitional housing for departing clients
- Provide a structured home like environment; assist in work for the service users
- Ongoing case management, and document case notes into database
- Participate in weekly meetings; provide updates to workshop users
- Assist with intakes, assessments, supports, referrals and counselling as required
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings, participate in internal meetings; fundraising

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma in Social Work or a related field with 3+ years’ experience in field
- Knowledge of the Indigenous culture and traditions is a definite asset
- Be an advocate for vulnerable persons
- Knowledge of social justice practices; recognize dignity of all persons
- Knowledge of community resources and experiencing liaising well with those partners
- Must possess sound communication skills - both oral and written
- Computer proficiency for database, correspondence, spreadsheets, presentations
- Valid G driver’s license for occasional use of agency vehicles
- Must be able to obtain a clear criminal record check with vulnerable screening

**Salary**: From $19.00 per hour
