Valbruna ASW Inc., the premier specialty steel-making facility located in Welland, ON, has an immediate requirement for the following position:
**Shift Maintenance Coordinator**

Valbruna ASW Inc. operates a dynamic and versatile facility and has a long and storied history in the steel-making business, with roots in Welland dating back to 1918. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Shift Maintenance Coordinator’s **duties & responsibilities** include the following:

- Direct and lead a team of unionized tradespeople for shift production in a steel melt shop environment including melting, refining and casting of specialty steel
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems to resolve issues promptly
- Prioritize maintenance tasks based on production schedules and equipment needs
- Coordinate, organize and plan maintenance projects and activities ensuring efficient management of labour, materials, and timelines
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, compliance with electrical and mechanical codes and adherence to safety regulations
- Schedule staff and provide appropriate feedback on progress and quality of work performed
- Train and inform employees about new work procedures and safety policies
- Supervise and coordinate activities of outside contractors as required
- Work closely with Operations to drive root cause identification and maintenance reduction/elimination activities
- Assist with the development and implementation of maintenance policies, procedures, work instructions and preventative/corrective measures
- Collaborate with other Supervisors, team members and departments to maintain efficiency of operation
- Comply with all legislative and company safety policies and practices to promote a safe and healthy work environment
- Complete all other duties as assigned
- Electrical or mechanical technologist or technician College diploma preferred
- At least five years of maintenance leadership in a heavy manufacturing environment
- Experience managing a team of skilled trades in a unionized environment would be considered an asset
- Must be able to work shifts and provide weekend and overtime maintenance shift supervision. Occasional vacation coverage for other shifts as needed
- Strong technical background in troubleshooting and continuous improvement
- Comfortable working at heights, operating basic tools/machinery, and working directly in the field
- Strong organizational, leadership and planning skills. Demonstrates the ability to manage time effectively and efficiently
- Proven ability to analyze problems, delegate tasks and collaborate within a team environment
- Exhibits excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, CMMS software)
- A strong willingness to work in a fast-paced, lean environment where adaptability, innovation and hard work are valued above all else

**Experience**:

- Maintenance leadership: 5 years (preferred)
