TO Live is seeking an experienced Executive Producer who will join the senior management team at the VP level and have a passion for the business of the arts and a track record of achievement in the cultural sector.
Reporting to the President and CEO, the Executive Producer will oversee all planning and project management for the Programming Department ensuring success and recognition are achieved through rigorous implementation of global cultural business standards.
In addition, the Executive Producer will ensure visionary leadership for future projects at TO Live that will further the company’s mission and purpose in the city.
**Activities and Responsibilities**
- Deliver the program of TO Live that is consistent with the objectives, and strategic plan of the organization within expenditure budgets agreed to by the Board of Directors and CEO.
- Create and manage annual master programming & production plan, schedule and budget to meet operational goals
- In partnership with the CEO, source and manage the necessary partnerships to ensure future presentations of commissioned and co-commissioned work nationally and internationally.
- Oversee the development and effective management of the annual operating budget for each division within the Programming department.
- Oversee and steer the production related elements of future commissions and projects in a variety of artistic disciplines
- Collaborate with executive team in the development of operational plan.
- Provide in conjunction with the Producing and Production Management team, production and logistics advice to support artistic decision-making
- Participate in negotiation and oversee the drafting of presentation, stage rentals, co-production, co-commissioning and other contracts through the work of the Bookings Department and the Producing Team.
- Supervise staff responsible for program administration, project management, budget management and tracking, production management, corporate sales, and rental sales and bookings.
- Lead and work with Programming Department Directors: Director of Programming / Music, Director of Programming / Artist Development and Outreach, Director of Corporate Sales, Director of Production.
- Ensure all Director team members provide timely event estimates as requested by the clients, complete contracts in a timely manner and secure client deposits and other organization liabilities made on clients’ behalf.
- Maintain professional relationships with all third-party operatives including appropriate collective bargaining units. This includes participating in negotiations as required.
- Remain current in areas of responsibility through education courses, professional publications, a professional network, and professional societies.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure effective coordination of activities and delivery of required objectives.
- Represent TO Live at arts and culture events and conferences and speak at appropriate media and industry engagements as an effective communicator.
**Job Specifications**
- A proven track record in strategic management.
- Minimum ten years + of Senior Producing experience or other relevant experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of production and presentation techniques across multiple genres, venues and outdoor locations, understanding of current production issues and relevant trends across multiple streams of the arts.
- In-depth awareness of performing arts activity: locally, nationally, and internationally. Brings a global perspective capable of developing international collaborations.
- Experience and skill in negotiating with local and international artists at all levels across the cultural spectrum.
- Knowledge and passion for Canadian artists.
- An extensive network of relationships in the performing and visual arts, on a local, national, and global level.
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, negotiation and collaborative skills.
- Strong staff management skills including organizational planning and delegation.
- Proven ability to manage to budget and provide clear financial analysis with respect to project costs and revenue potential.
- A strong business focus on achieving bottom-line results through the integration of financial, contractual, physical and human resources.
