**Early Childhood Educator Assistant**

**Job Summary**

Position: Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA)

Vacancies: 1

Wage and Benefits: $18 per hour, with medical and dental package

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-time

Working Schedule: 35 hours per week, 8:30AM to 17:30PM Monday to Friday, with 1 hour of unpaid lunch breach

Work Setting: Daycare (with children aged 1-6)

Job Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

**JOB DUTIES**:
Assist ECEs in carrying out programs that promote the physical development and emotional well-being of children

Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts

Maintain a neat and clean environment, including all activity and teaching areas, common areas, dining room and washrooms

Draft written observation reports pertaining physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children, to ECEs and supervisors

Plan and organize activities for after school programs

Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties

Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children

Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits for toddlers

Prepare snacks and arrange rooms, seats and beds for lunch and rest periods

Assist ECEs or supervisors in keeping daycare records

**EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS**:
Completion of College/CEGEP, or other diploma program for at least 2 years

At least 2 years’ experience in childcare facility as teacher assistant/co-ordinator

Fluent in English with strong communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills, loving and caring

High energy and able to work under pressure

Patience when working with children

Criminal record check

Pay: $18.00-$28.61 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
