Reporting to the shift Lead Hand, the primary function of this position is managing the raw material requirements in a time-efficient manner, using proactive problem-solving of issues in order to avoid production downtime. This is achieved by controlling the incoming supply of product (sawdust, chips, shavings) in the storage pad area and keeping the furnace & dryer supplied with enough of the appropriate material to maintain uninterrupted plant operation.

**Responsibilities**:
Top priority is to remove material from the dryer fire dump bin as instructed by the shift engineer. Failure to do so can result in auger or dryer plugging or a dryer fire.
- Monitor incoming loads of materials, ensuring necessary quality, obtain incoming material samples.
- Keep an uninterrupted flow of material supplied to meet operation needs.
- Follow all safety and lockout procedures for the equipment being used.
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the job, ensuring all PPE is maintained & working properly.
- Follow all Department of Labour and company rules & regulations.
- Proactive communication with other operators and key Pellet Plant personnel.
- Complete visual inspections to ensure equipment is in good working condition, check & replenish fluid levels, report any damage to Lead Hand or Maintenance Lead, complete necessary paperwork.
- Keep the loader & key operational equipment clean, notify maintenance of problems, complete all required paperwork.
- Perform other duties, as requested by Lead Hand, Maintenance Lead or Pellet Mill Production Manager.

**Qualifications and Skills Required**:

- Commitment to a safe work culture.
- Loader trained and certified.
- Operation of loader equipment, able to assess working condition and complete cleaning of equipment.
- Knowledge of operating mill equipment, systems and mill production methods is an asset.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment is an asset.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
- Ability to prioritize issues by level of importance and work independently.
- Ability to work in a team environment and to communicate at all levels.

**This full-time term position (may end up being permanent with benefits & bonus pay) requires 12 hour rotating shifts; 4 days on/4 days off; days/nights. While performing duties, the employee will be exposed to seasonal weather conditions; moving mechanical equipment; working at heights; airborne dust and high noise levels, requiring masking & hearing protection in certain areas; high voltage electrical equipment, requiring precaution and Lock-out training provided on-site.**
