**Job Summary**
- Our Fiber Optic Technician work in collaboration with the R&D engineers and the production teams to provide technical advice to improve the design and troubleshooting of our products. They will also be responsible for performing fiber optic tests in the R&D lab with skill and accuracy. The technician will also contribute to the day-to-day activities conducted in the lab.

**You will make an impact in the following way**:

- _Perform optical, mechanical, and environmental tests on various fiber products_
- _Execute product qualification plans and test procedures and assist in the development of these_
- _Produce test reports with technical analysis and recommendations_
- _Assemble and automate data acquisition/analysis for test benches _
- _Assemble fiber optic prototypes and perform equipment troubleshooting as required_
- _Maintain inventory of consumable materials and laboratory chemicals used for testing _
- _Research and test new equipment for lab testing needs_

- _Assist Engineers in performing in-depth root cause analysis_
- _Maintain the calibration process (schedule and certificate database, communication with 3rd party laboratories)_
- _Develop schedule and perform preventive maintenance of the fiber laboratory equipment_
- _Support interns’ training for the equipment and procedures in the lab_

**_What you will bring:_**
- _College diploma (DEC) - Physics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology_
- _Knowledge of optical measurement techniques, fiber optics test equipment and optical transmission effects_
- _Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail and resourcefulness_
- _Strong troubleshooting and statistical skills_
- _Possess ability to communicate in English and French_

- _Experience with calibration/maintenance management process _
- _Experience or related training with machining equipment and hand tools _
- _Experience with Labview or Visual Basic programming _
- _Solidworks modeling or similar software_
- _Programming in Python, C/C ++ or other languages_
- This position requires full-time, onsite presence._
