Compensation Range

Job Summary

The University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine s Division of Rural Continuing Professional Development (UBC RCPD) strives to meet the continuing education and professional learning needs of practicing physicians in rural and remote BC. The UBC CPD [Coordinator] is a key member of the UBC RCPD education team. As such the incumbent contributes their creativity, project coordination and relationship building skills as well as their educational expertise to growing the education and innovation capacity of RCPD.

This position is responsible for contributing to the research, development, coordination, evaluation, and implementation of custom educational programs and courses in the Ultrasound Education portfolio within the RCPD Program. The individual manages the delivery of programs/courses in both online and in-person formats for physicians and other health professionals in British Columbia. The individual also works to ensure that all levels of coordination of multiple on-going community-based rural CPD programs are implemented effectively, successfully, within budget, utilizing a variety of computer, organizational, and prioritization skills and tools.

Organizational Status

This position reports to the UBC RCPD Senior Manager and works closely with other members of the UBC CPD and UBC RCPD team.
- Works closely, collegially, and collaboratively with the other UBC CPD staff, as well as UBC CPD s senior leadership, Medical Directors, and consultants.
- Interacts regularly with various departments on campus within and outside of the Faculty of Medicine, administrators of campus and hospital departments, healthcare organizations, funding agencies, planning committees, external service providers (e.g. event venues, caterers, videoconferencing, and audio/visual support), program/course participants (e.g. physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals) as well as physicians and other health professionals in practice.

Work Performed

Program Development and Educational Planning
- Manages and leads program development for the Ultrasound Education portfolio with support from interest holders, course Medical Leads, and UBC CPD management to develop sustainable closer-to-home programming
- Provides guidance to physicians and others in the design, accreditation, and coordination of CPD events
- Works with UBC CPD Director and Senior Manager, project advisors, and others to create, implement and maintain project plans, proposals and budgets
- Plans and schedules the community courses collaboratively with communities in a cost-effective and timely manner, based on feasibility and logistics of equipment/resource availability
- Leads planning meetings with medical leads to discuss innovations/ideas for course portfolio
- Identifies areas of growth and innovation for new programming
- Works with UBC CPD's Creative Learning team to oversee online course development and updates

Program Delivery and Operations
- Oversees all aspects of the delivery of educational programs/courses, including annual course bookings and instructor teaching schedules
- Provides orientation and overview of community course programming to CME Coordinators, physician leads, and local coordinators
- Oversees the maintenance of course inventory and flags relevant information, individuals, and details for future offerings and partnerships
- Contributes to the development and dissemination of program policies and guidelines with both external and internal parties

Financial and Resource Management
