An affiliate of the Airbus Group of Companies, STELIA is an aerospace and defence company specializing in the design, development, and manufacturing of composite components and assemblies. Headquartered in Lunenburg, NS, and with a site in Mirabel, QC, we operate more than 150,000 sq feet of facilities dedicated to operations, manufacturing and administration.
Reporting to the **Supply Chain Manager**, the Buyer will be responsible for purchasing and supporting the manufacturing and engineering teams with the purchasing of recurring products, out of production products, and onboarding new products. The Buyer fosters and manages relationships with external suppliers and internal stakeholders and analyzes requisitions, material requirement planning demand, maintenance repair and operations suggestions, transport requirements, and delivery lead times and issues purchase orders for the respective commodity.
**In this role, you will**:
- Purchase parts from approved suppliers that meet drawing specifications, coordinating with internal Quality teams and suppliers on any non-conforming items.
- Manage approved suppliers, including material pricing, lead-time changes, minimum order quantities, and potential material risks.
- Determine optimal order quantities to achieve economic advantages while considering lead times, safety stock levels, and production demand.
- Monitor product flow from suppliers or manufacturers, including third-party logistics and customs clearance, ensuring timely delivery.
- Ensure documentation and quality-approved parts are ready for production release.
- Maintain a strong understanding of material resource planning and verify procurement demand before placing orders.
- Proactively identify potential material risks by collaborating with suppliers, programs, and planning teams, and communicate any impacts to operations.
- Support Finance with invoice discrepancies and credit management.
- Balance delivery dates with production needs and stock levels to maintain strategic inventory and prevent line stoppages.
- Collaborate with programs to assess requirements and future material coverage.
- Coordinate with planning on long-term material requirements.
- Provide support for long-term agreements and quotes as needed.
- Engage in operational sourcing and negotiations as required.
- Manage supplier relationships, including order management, relationship building, and performance reporting.
**You have**:
- A University Degree or Community College Diploma in related courses and minimum of 2 years work related experience; or 5 years relevant work experience and enrollment in professional development course.
- Supply Chain Management Profession Designation is an asset.
- Knowledge of an AS9100 aerospace work environment
- Experience with Customs and Duties is an asset.
- Experience in Purchasing & Managing Logistics for Procurement.
- Knowledge and understanding of Material Resource Planning concepts in a manufacturing work environment.
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, MS Outlook, Project Management.
- Understanding of an ERP system, prior experience with Epicor is an asset.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong time management skills.
