Team Lead Renal Clinical Programs

The Team Lead is responsible for supporting the Manager in delivering one or more project/program/operational plans within the Ontario Renal Network’s person-centred care portfolio. As part of this role, the Team Lead acts as the lead support to the Manager in developing plans and deliverables, supervising resources, and interacting with key internal and/or external stakeholders. The Team Lead acts on the Manager behalf in their absence.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Project/Program/Operational planning
- Project/Program/Operations execution and monitoring
- Human resources management
- Stakeholder relationship management
Here is what you will be doing:
- Lead the development, implementation, and review of provincial strategies and associated work plans including managing multiple concurrent priority projects within the portfolio
- Formal line management of up to three junior team members; this includes recruitment, coaching, performance management and development
- Provide leadership and guidance to team on day-to-day project/program/operational activities
- Design, manage and implement provincial quality improvement, clinical policy and health system change strategies with corresponding initiatives and projects within the portfolio
- Lead engagement with relevant Provincial Medical Leads, Regional Medical Leads, Regional Directors and Patient and Family Advisors to develop and execute the provincial program of work
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders including clinicians and administrators at renal programs, patients and families, and key partners
- Foster positive, productive and creative partnerships between Ontario Renal Network teams and key internal stakeholders
- Provide constructive input and content knowledge to guide and achieve long term strategic goals for the portfolio
- Develop and maintain an effective results-based work plan for the portfolio
- Advise on the development of relevant scorecard indicators and target setting, and support Managers and Directors in the performance management cycle
- Lead the development and implementation of evaluation strategies for the portfolio and respective initiatives
- Work with the Manager to define objectives and goals, prioritize key activities, assign accountabilities and develop deliverables for the portfolio
- Support the Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations of the portfolio
- Manage operations budget for the portfolio including, supporting budget development; monitoring/tracking budget; ensuring activities are executed and delivered within budget; and negotiating costs or changes to budget as required
- Other duties as assigned, such as coordination of meetings and travel, etc.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
- Graduate master level degree in Public Health, Policy Administration, Health Sciences, Health Administration, Health Informatics, Business or area of clinical practice, or an equivalent combination of educational training and experience
- 5+ years relevant experience, including 1+ years of management experience or relevant mentoring equivalent
- An understanding of Ontario’s health care systems and an understanding of the organization of kidney disease management in Ontario is required
- Strong relationship building skills, with demonstrated experience engaging and building consensus amongst diverse stakeholders, including healthcare providers, administrators, patients and families
- Demonstrated experience in business strategy, provincial program design, planning and project management practices, and quality improvement is required
- Demonstrated abilities in knowledge translation and explaining complex concepts and findings to clinical, administrative, and patient and family audiences
- Experience managing multiple, complex projects including allocating resources, negotiating timelines and synthesizing activities and findings to meet business needs
- Recognized leadership skills including commitment to cultivating organizational health and ability to inspire and drive results
