The Ontario Renal Network (ORN), a part of Ontario Health, is responsible for advising the Ontario government on the renal system. The ORN manages the delivery of clinical services to patients with chronic kidney disease in Ontario. The ORN’s Renal Clinical Programs team leads the planning and implementation of the ORN’s provincial quality improvement initiatives.
The Specialist, Renal Clinical Programs, Ontario Renal Network will be a critical member of the team. The Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting the implementation of quality improvement initiatives across multiple initiatives within Renal Clinical Programs.
The Specialist is primarily responsible for assisting the Manager and/or Team Leader in delivering on Renal Clinical Program mandates within specific areas of expertise by executing key activities and developing the required deliverables. As part of this role, the Specialist develops the required processes, tools, and technology to implement key activities and deliver on program plans.
The Specialist supports projects/program areas that are large and broad in scope, have more complex mandates/objectives, and/or are related to more than one focused area of expertise
The work associated with the position impacts the success of the program based on the accomplishment of key responsibilities and activities within areas of expertise.
Here is what you will be doing:
Program/Operational Support- Support the planning, implementation, and maintenance of quality improvement initiatives.- In collaboration with clinical experts, conduct literature reviews, surveys, and environmental scans; develop frameworks; and actively participate in the development of recommendation reports.- Define scope and deliverables of initiatives in coordination with the Manager and clinical and administrative stakeholders, with a focus on providing input on specific areas of expertise.- Identify and escalate program risks to the Manager; propose recommendations to address the issues identified.- Develop various products to execute on the program plan, support internal and external communication, reporting and decision-making, including but not limited to tools, templates, briefing notes, reports, executive summaries, status updates and presentations.- In consultation with teams, analyze quantitative and qualitative data, and preparing reports and presentations.- Support priority panels, communities of practice, and working groups.- Manage multiple projects concurrently within timelines.- Develop and present materials using excellent written, verbal, and graphical communications skills.- Coordinate project documentation, communications, project schedules and timelines under the direction of the Manager.- Provide support and coordinate meetings for internal and external groups, including organizing meeting logistics, preparing meeting materials, tracking action items, and ensuring appropriate follow up.- Determines program/operational requirements and translates these into solutions that achieve objectives and/or address key issues; implements and monitors/tests the recommendations/solutions developed- Maintains documentation and make slight modifications and/or suggest improvement as required.
Stakeholder Engagement- Develop and foster effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to health care providers, administrators, patient and family advisors, project teams, and committees.- Plan, develop and support knowledge translation and exchange activities for various clinical initiatives/programs.- Support integration within OH departments on related work and support other initiatives within the ORN as needed.- Perform cross-functional tasks and/or other duties within Renal Clinical Programs, as required.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience:
- Required: Undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline (clinical epidemiology, health sciences, health services research, health or business administration) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree is preferred.- Required: Minimum three to five years of related experience. Experience in a health care environment is preferred.- Experience with preparing meeting minutes, briefing notes, presentations and reports (e.g. policy papers and evidence summaries).- Expertise and experience in data analysis, and information gathering and synthesis.-
- Experience working with clinical experts, patient and family advisors and health care administrators.
Knowledge and Skills:
