We are seeking a Research Specialist with knowledge in marketing and multimedia to join our team. This role involves conducting in-depth research into the transportation industry in Northwestern Ontario. You will play a key role in shaping data-driven strategies, supporting decision-making, and enhancing our outreach through multimedia and marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on transportation infrastructure across Northwestern Ontario, including road, rail, air, and marine networks. Identify and analyze challenges, deficiencies, and opportunities within the current transportation system. Coordinate and support the creation of a multi-sectoral Steering Committee composed of stakeholders from the Northwest and Thunder Bay regions.

Facilitate and maintain ten (10) strategic partnerships with public and private sector organizations.

Collaborate with community leaders, government officials, Indigenous partners, and industry stakeholders. Develop a Comprehensive Action Plan that outlines short and long-term strategies for infrastructure improvement. Draft and finalize a bilingual Final Report (English/French) that disseminates evidence-based findings and recommendations. Support efforts to stimulate private and public sector investment in transportation infrastructure. Contribute to increased regional economic activity by identifying infrastructure-driven opportunities.

Qualifications:
Degree in Economics, Urban or Regional Planning, Public Policy, Transportation, Geography, or a related field (Master’s preferred). Demonstrate experience in applied research, data analysis, and report writing. Proven ability to engage stakeholders and facilitate collaborative partnerships. Familiarity with transportation policy, infrastructure funding, and regional planning. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write for diverse audiences. Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset. Knowledge of Northwestern Ontario’s geography, economy, and Indigenous communities is considered a strong advantage.
