Are you an experienced researcher looking for an exciting next step in your career? The BC Behavioural Insights Group (BC BIG) is looking for a Methods Specialist to join our team. We’re a passionate group of practitioners motivated by a desire to make a meaningful and measurable positive impact on the lives of British Columbians.

Established over five years ago, BC BIG has become a trusted resource with a rich portfolio of experience. We are fortunate to be able to explore complex and important issues through a behavioural lens offering expert advice, evaluation services, and training to our colleagues across the public service. In our role as internal government consultants, we are exposed to a variety of policy challenges and have co-developed several behaviourally-informed solutions for our client partners which you can read about in our latest Progress Report.

**Here are the details**:
Reporting to the Project Director, the Methods Specialist leads a portfolio of complex behavioural insights projects for client ministries that involves designing solutions to behaviour-based challenges using experimental methodology (e.g., randomized controlled trials) and other innovative approaches such as service design, systems thinking and agile methodology. The Specialist produces project artifacts, develops and implements research protocols, collects and interprets data, and translates project findings into reports, blog posts, and presentations. The Specialist also provides strategic advice and recommendations to client ministries that is informed by the operational context and by knowledge of government and the suite of available policy instruments and levers.

**Job Requirements**:

- Master’s degree in psychology, sociology, economics, neuroscience or related field; **OR**:

- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, economics, neuroscience or related field and **2 years** of work experience in behavioural or social science research.
- Minimum 1 year of experience managing a portfolio of projects and complex assignments.
- Minimum 1 year of experience building collaborative relationships and/or partnerships.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.

**Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following**:

- Minimum 1 year of public sector work experience.
- Experience working on behavioural insights or behavioural economics projects.
- Experience in user experience design, strategic foresight, lean, or other innovative disciplines.
- Experience in data science, computer programming, or machine learning.
- Graduate of a behavioural insights educational program
