The laboratory of Professors Senger and Robbins of McGill’s Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research is seeking to hire a full-time research assistant to provide experimental expertise in the general area of cancer biology and inflammation.

Main job responsibilities include:

- Overseeing and maintaining a comprehensive histology platform including the processing and embedding of various mouse tissues/organs in paraffin, microtome sectioning, immunohistochemical (color and fluorescent) and histological staining and imaging.
- General lab management and cell culture room maintenance including quality assurance.
- Handling of and surgery on mice including the establishment and maintenance of patient-derived xenografts. Position will be dependent on maintaining animal handling criteria in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements of the animal care committee at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research.
- Maintain accountable research project documentation and records.
- Analyze, interpret and present research data.

Qualifications:

- Applicant must have at a minimum Bachelor of Science Degree (required) and a Masters of Science (preferred) in biology, biochemistry, immunology or highly related field
- at least 3 years of research laboratory experience
- Must have significant documented evidence of research productivity including demonstration of highly skilled expertise
- Must be able to work in a team-based setting.
- Very strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
- The applicant should have experience with animal studies
- Good command of the English language.

Expected start date: Dec 1, 2025

Probation period: 6 months

Full-time: 35 hours per week
