Lora Bay Golf Club is looking for a Head Golf Professional to join their team. This role will be responsible for the overall management of the golf operation, customer service training and standards, practice facilities, pace of play systems, seasonal staff recruitment, staff management, payroll systems, golf shop operations, POS and tee sheet management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Golf Operations Management
- Oversee the reservation and point of sale systems
- Work collaboratively with third party vendors that integrate with the reservation system to maximize the public green fee revenue
- Track and verify all players and guests, green fees, golf carts, other changes as necessary, and facilitate accurate accounting and recordkeeping
- Oversee golf cart fleet while ensuring proper maintenance and recordkeeping
- Develop and manage an innovative weekly men’s and women’s league program
- Develop and manage key member events, ie. Match play, club championship, member/guests, and mixed events
- Oversee the operations of a well-managed practice facility
- Ensure the proper storage, safety, and cleaning of all golf equipment
- Play golf with a variety of members and/or guests when time permits
- Oversee and ensure customer database is maintained and updated for marketing and communication purposes
Retail Management
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels or retail merchandise
- Maintain a profitable golf merchandise operation in line with budget targets
- Maintain an orderly appearance in and around the golf shop and adjoining offices
- Supervise physical monthly inventories and accurate inventory counts
- Supervise and train all golf shop staff to maximize sales opportunities
Golf Administration
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, motivating and supervision of all golf department staff and maintain accurate payroll records
- Assist in evaluations and annual reviews of all applicable golf shop staff
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled by management and schedule staff meetings with golf operations personnel
- Assist in the publications of newsletters, informational and promotional materials
- Assist in comparison information to properly position the facility in the marketplace
- Assist in the development and preparation of budget including forecasting and review of all golf operation revenues and expenses on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.
Guest Service
- Cultivate exceptional service and guest experiences consistent with that of a high-end private golf club
EDUCAITION & EXPERIENCE
- Experience in a senior leadership role at a high service golf facility
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership qualities
- Ability to coordinate, delegate and negotiate
- Is able to establish and maintain positive relationships with employees, members and guests
- Ability to train coach and motivate diverse team
- Class A member of the PGA of Canada in good standing
- University Degree and or Accredited PGM graduate
- 5-7 years’ experience in golf operations and leading/supervising staff
- Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations
- Fundamental supervisory practices and principles
- Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees
- Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills
- Self-motivated with desire to promote and market
- Experienced in written and oral business communications
- Remain up-to-date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies
- Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community
SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY
- Supervision and performance management of golf operations team (approximately 30 staff)
- Assist in the development, monitoring, control and reporting on Golf Operations budget (future year planning)
- Monitor, manage and report on “Golf Operations” budget, ensuring stay within labor costs, identifying savings opportunities where possible, increasing revenues ensuring meeting and/or exceeding annual targets (in year)
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
- Work in a clean well-lit environment
- Work under pressure and a fast paced environment
- Outside as required in a variety of weather conditions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift 50 LBS.
- Long periods of standing on your feet.
- Must be willing to work morning shifts, evening shifts, weekends and holidays.
