**About the Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager, Healthy Communities, the Health Promoter, works in collaboration with the Consultants and the rest of the Healthy Communities Team to address local population health needs and to take action to improve population health and reduce health inequities. The Health Promoter works with community partners across multiple levels to take action and advocate for policy and system change to create supportive social, economic and physical environments that protect and promote health. The Health Promoter, using evidence informed strategies, seeks and advocates for policy and system change through community engagement, coalition building and partnership development. The Health Promoter continually assesses understanding of community’s health through ongoing and informal means (gathers local intelligence, seeks out experiences and stories) and conducts formal community health assessment processes. The Health Promoter uses persuasive communication techniques and strong facilitation skills to bring others along in the work to create system/culture change. Evidence is translated on an ongoing basis throughout the planning cycle (assessment, development, implementation and evaluation) to build understanding and to motivate and inspire action, among colleagues and with community partners.

**About You**:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Bachelor degree in Health Promotion/ Public Health plus five years community based/Public Health experience OR Masters degree in Health Promotion/Public Health plus two years community-based/ Public Health experience
- Experience in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion programs, policies, services, and initiatives
- First Aid/ CPR Certification
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Core Competencies for Public Health and LEADS.
- Understanding of a population based approach
- Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships, networks, coalitions, and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners to support healthy communities work.
- Demonstrated negotiation and conflict management skills; strong judgement, decision making and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated planning, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to deal with competing priorities, plan and be self-directed
- Demonstrated understanding of health impact assessment
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary setting with a strong focus on citizen/community.
- Travel will be required. A valid drivers' license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

**Hours**:

- Permanent Full-Time / Long Assignment; 70 hours Bi-weekly
- Approximate 12-month term position
- Shifts include days and occasional nights and weekends
- Travel will be required

**Compensation and Incentives**:
$31.20 - $39.40 hourly
