**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
The Technician, Environmental is responsible for assisting in field logistics and supporting field teams working on various environmental programs and/or the monitoring, collection, analysis of environmental data.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Collects, organizes, and executes data collection including the collection and management of biological, water quality and/or hydrologic data
- Ensures quality control measures are included into all areas of work
- Conducts regular site visits, including initiating contact with private landowners and other stakeholders as required
- Assists with the coordination of materials, equipment and services as required
- Participates in daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning
- Ensures compliance with occupational health & safety policies and practices, and other TRCA policies, as applicable in various work environments
- Assists in drafting technical reports, project support documents, presentations, public notices etc. for erosion control works under supervision
- Completes preliminary review of detailed design drawings and reports for erosion control works to ensure conformance with internal procedures and permitting requirements and extract critical technical parameters, such as construction phasing/sequencing, material types/quantities, and restoration plans
**What will you need to succeed**:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Sciences, Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field
- Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license
- 2+ years experience in planning and implementing environmental work in project management or similar field
- Sound data management skills; experience working with databases and GIS software
- Sound communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the team
- Experience interacting and connecting with persons of various social, cultural, or economic backgrounds; at ease with a variety of audiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate project status for various audiences.
- Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating environment
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint; advanced MS Excel capabilities for analysis, data visualization
