**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
The Field Staff, Restoration & Infrastructure performs a variety of field work activities which support environmental projects and programs delivered by the Erosion Risk Management, Restoration and Resource Management, Construction Services or Professional Services teams. Field staff will assist the Technician and help actively participate in the safe operation and maintenance of a range of tools and equipment including agricultural tractors and implements. Staff will learn relevant skills, techniques, and best management practices for site preparation techniques, meadow restoration and invasive species management.
This position plays an integral role in the on-ground implementation of ecological restoration and ecosystem enhancement through the site preparation practices. Occupational health and safety is a major responsibility of this position
**Major Responsibilities**:

- Executes a variety of field work activities in support of ongoing restoration and adaptive management activities, including site prep, plowing, mowing, seeding and invasive species management.
- Operates appropriate machinery and equipment required to execute work duties related to specific project/program area (i.e., Tractors and implements, drills, line trimmers, UTV, etc.)
- Collects and inputs field data according to project scope
- Ensures that quality control and assurance measures are followed at all steps of the work process
- Assists with the transportation of equipment and materials to and from sites as required
- Directs the public to project notice signage and possibly providing contact information for additional information and inquiries, referring detailed questions and complaints to supervisor
- Participates in the daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning
- Assists with maintenance of equipment and vehicles, performs circle and other health and safety checks. Reports potential maintenance requirements to supervisor
- Participates in ecological and maintenance projects, such as vegetation management, invasive vegetation removal and tree, shrub and herbaceous planting
- Incumbents may also be assigned other duties

**What will you need to succeed**:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
- Minimum pursuing a post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Science, Restoration Ecology, Environmental Management, Forestry or a related field
- Valid Class G2 Driver’s License
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Certification

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
- Familiar with farm and construction equipment, including operation and maintenance of small tools and larger machinery.
- Knowledge of ecological restoration processes and procedures
- Knowledge of native and invasive plants and plant identification skills.
- Ability and aptitude to work outdoor in adverse conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues
- Familiarity with mapping natural landscape features and reading maps
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team
- Proficiency in MS Office for general office communications (I.e., mail, spreadsheet and word processing software, including online enablement software such as MS teams and SharePoint)
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, related Regulations and legislation
- Required to lift or carry objects that could weigh up to 45lbs
